Obituary of Janet Wood

Janet Wood, 65, of Homer, NY passed away on November 21, 2021. She was born on July 29, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY. Janet was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a proud volunteer for the Red cross. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors. Her biggest pride was her grandchildren who she loved dearly. She was a great mother who defied all odds. Her friends know her to be the life of the party! She had an amazing personality with a smile that could light of any room. Janet was compassionate, funny and very fashionable. To those friends closest to her, she was their "brown sugar" and will be missed very dearly. Janet is survived by her children Jamal Wilson, Cicero Fort, Jamilla Fort, her sister Carolyn Suber, and her grandchildren Vegas Fort, Malcolm Wilson, and Dante Wilson. She is predeceased by her mother Rosa Thompson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 24, 2021 from 10am-12pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Nate Wright officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at the Glenwood Cemetery.
