Obituary of H. Richard Drumm

Our family lost its patriarch on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. H. Richard Drumm (Dick) of Tully, NY "got old". He was born on May 16, 1928. After a very long battle with aging, Dick, at 93, succumbed to the wear and tear of dairy farming and a lifetime of hard labor. He can now rejoin Vera, the love of his life who predeceased him on 2/21/2011. Dick leaves a very proud legacy behind. He and Vera raised three sons: Doug (Dee), Mike (Andrea) and Mark (Suzanne). Vera and Dick loved their 13 grandchildren more than anything in the world. Vera would spoil the kids with fresh baked cookies and Dick would spoil them (and himself) with round two of cookies from the 'hidden' jar. Dick also had the great pleasure of meeting nine great-grandchildren and those "turtles" and "tigers" brought him so much joy. We will miss his unfiltered stories and colorful sayings. He was a strong man who it seemed could fix almost anything except his broken heart. He is now holding Vera and eating all of the dessert he desires…and no broccoli. A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at the Otisco Presbetarian Church on May 28th at 10am. There will be a gathering at his favorite restaurant, The Loft at Vesper Hills Golf Club to follow. The burial will be private. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
