Dear Amy, Kevin, Nicole and extended family,
We are so very saddened by Donna's sudden passing and for the pain and loss that you all are feeling.
I met Donna in 1988 when I joined her carpool (along with Roz Lufkin) to Cincinnatus School. During my 3 years at Cincy, I learned that Donna was a most caring, gifted teacher, beloved by her students. Donna's sense of humor was such a gift to our car rides. She often had a story and laughed easily. I learned about "sun dogs" from Donna on one of those car rides.
It was obvious how devoted she was to you, Amy and Kevin, and how very much she loved you. You were obviously the center of her world. And, of course, your children were her delights!
My husband Steve and I didn't get to see Donna as much after I left the position at Cincy, but whenever we did encounter her, she always greeted us with that ready smile and great laugh. We loved that she was able to enjoy art after her retirement.
I'm sorry that we were out of town for Donna's calling hours and memorial service. She will forever remain in our hearts. We hold each of you dearly in prayer and in our hearts.
With love,
Cathy and Steve Smith

Donna & I lived right next door to each other…when I moved in 15 years ago.…during those years, we became not only friends but we became each other’s “ person”…we checked in on one another, drove each other to Doctors Appts…Donna was so blessed to have Family that loved & cared for her…but she knew when I lost my mommy, I had no one left…She opened her Heart and treated me like her own Family!!! We had so much fun and had a secret lawn mowing competition knowing it would end with eating ice cream! Her flowers were Always in Perfect condition…mine…not so much…I used to tell her that weeds are just Flowers that don’t have anything to prove…they’re just Beautiful in their own way! I would go out of my way to make her laugh…luckily she & Amy got my dry twisted humour…There are sooo many things I will miss about my friend…I sure hope she visits me this Summer when I’m talking to my trees or feeding the critters outside…I’ll try to keep the Skunks from spraying your way…I love you for Always & I’ll See you again one day…I wish you didn’t have to leave so soon…Sharon Summerson

Donna and I became acquainted when she read a newspaper article on my nonprofit organization Caring Hearts for Central Haiti and she felt led to start supporting our work in Haiti. It was such a joy receiving her cards with her own artwork. Her financial support meant so much to the children of Haiti. Sometimes when I was feeling a little discouraged, one of her cards would show up in our mailbox with words of encouragement and a donation saying "The Holy Spirit told me to send this towards your work in Haiti....He speaks, I obey." She was SUCH a testimony to me and our organization. Her support provided many school lunches for hungry children in a little village in Haiti. We also had some GREAT discussions over the phone about Haiti and God. She will surely be missed.

Mrs. Marsh was a treasured teacher of mine and provided guidance to me as a substitute as well. Sympathy to the family.
