Douglas L. "Doug" Burnham, Sr., 75 of Cortland passed away on May 28, 2022 at Groton Community Health Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 15, 1946 a son of the late Francis J. and Betty Mae Lewis Burnham. Doug was most recently employed by Cornell University as a Maintenance Tech. He previously worked at Marietta, Smith-Corona, Champion Sheet Metal as a line assembler and Cortland County Highway Department. Doug was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and Maple Hill Golf Course. Doug was an avid fisherman and hunter, anyone who knows him, knows he is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Mowry) Burnham, children, Douglas (Renee) Burnham, Jr., Laurie (John) Miller, Terry (Shelly Clark) Vestal, Shirron (Steve O'Dell) Knickerbocker; his siblings, Charlotte (Jean) Ellsworth, Stephen (Mary) Burnham; eight grandchildren, Kayla Burnham, Jenelle (Tanner) Treacy, Corey Sims, Courtnee Sims, Calista Dayton, Trenton Allbright, Tara Knickerbocker, Ava Knickerbocker; 7 great grandchildren and one still in the oven, Conner Burnham, Bentley Madrid, Parker Treacy, Rosie Sims, Remington Sims, Ukiah Schaap, Kagen Wilson and Paxtyn in the oven, and several nieces and nephews. Doug is predeceased by a sister and brother in law, Shirley (Mike) Helms and a sister Marsha Thorington. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 5 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 155 Port Watson St, Cortland, NY 13045.
