Obituary of Shirley J. Foster

Shirley J. Foster, 87, of Cortland, NY went to be with her Lord on June 25, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on September 29, 1934 in Cortland, NY to the late LR Edwin and Hazel Williamson. She was married to Harold R. Foster for 68 years and they had 7 children who were the light of her life. She was a life long member of the Living Word Free Methodist Church in Cortland. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and many grandchildren and in the thick of activities. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold R. Foster, her sister Deborah (Richard) Contento, her children Sharon (Bill) Strom, Susan (Chris) Fox, Lorrie (Tom-deceased) McDonald, Ronald Foster, Donald (Lisa) Foster, Patty (Nick) Gutchess, Gary (Darlene) Foster, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her grandsons, Steven Snyder, Bryan Snyder and her son-in-law Thomas McDonald, all of whom she loved dearly. Calling hours will be held at Wright Beard Funeral Home, Inc, 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on July 9, 2022 at 10 AM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor James Kane and Pastor Kimberly Fick officiating. Interment will follow in Virgil Cemetery, Virgil NY We would like to thank the CNA's from Icare Adult Home Care Services, Cortland, NY that came in and took right over with caring for our mom and dad. They did so much to help the family with not only care, but multiple chores. Thank you, ladies. We know you grew to love our mom and are saddened by our loss. We would also like to thank Hospicare & Pallative Care Services of Cortland, NY for the love and care they gave to our mom in her last days. They went above and beyond for her. They truly loved her as most anyone that met her did.
