Obituary of America "Meeka" Kane

America “Meeka” Kane, 91, of Cortland, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022. She was born on February 22, 1931 in Cortland to her parents, the late Aquilino Faraoni and Kristina Zingaro. Cortland was home to Meeka for her entire life. She raised her family there and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. Meeka truly enjoyed her family, in particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to her weekly breakfasts with her niece Felicia and getting her hair done. Meeka also used to like to try her luck on a scratch off lottery ticket or two for her enjoyment. Meeka is survived by her loving family, daughter Amy (Gary) Thomas; daughter-in-law Cindy Kane; grandchildren John (Carrie) Kane and Mollie Thomas; great-grandchildren Adalynn Rice, Logan Kane and Regan Kane; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband John “Rolie” Kane, her son John “Jack” Kane and her siblings, Lena, Ella, Peter, Tony Dom, and Americo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church of Cortland with burial to follow.
