Nolan E. McLaughlin, 74, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. He was born on May 23, 1948 to Paul and Betty in Cortland, NY. He grew up in the family home on Hamlin Street with his older sister Sharon and attended Cortland High School.
Nolan courageously served in the Army in Vietnam. He was proud of his service and we are truly thankful to him and the many others who made great sacrifices for us.
Nolan was employed at many places in many different fields. He worked for the FBI in an administrative capacity. He spent many years in sales and advertising, ranging from matchbook ads to bank promotional items.
Nolan, like his parents, loved nature. He looked forward to hunting season each year, but most of all admired wildlife. It wasn’t uncommon for him to pull his car over to snap photos of wild turkeys or other creatures he would see along the way. Nolan was an avid photographer. His hobby became a profession when he started his business, Photographic Impressions, in 2008.
Nolan shared his musical talent for several years as a drummer with the Cortland Civic Band. He had a fondness for island music, and even had a small set of steel drums he enjoyed playing. Nolan truly enjoyed the laid back music of Jimmy Buffett.
Nolan is survived by his son, Kevin; granddaughter and grandson Emma and Holden McLaughlin; nephew Patrick Richards; great nephew Noah and great niece Chloe Richards; and life companion Valerie Galante.
