Obituary of Bernice D. Rogers

Bernice D. (Storey) Rogers, 80, of Lake Como, passed peacefully on November 15, 2022, at Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones after an extended illness. Bernie is survived by her husband John “Tom” Rogers, son Robert E. Storey, granddaughter Megan Storey, sister Lil Monty, brother Chuck Storey, stepchildren Terri Greene and David Rogers, grandsons Jeremiah Rogers and Daniel Turner-Rogers, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernie was predeceased by her son, Kim Alan Storey, her parents, Chuck and Bernice (Bush) Storey, siblings Martha Storey, Thelma Brown, Josephine Albro, Orie “Doc” Storey, Les Storey, Cora “Midge” Storey, and Robert B. Storey. Bernie loved her family and took great pride in referring to Tom as “my husband.” Bernie enjoyed most any activity that the love of her life was involved in. She and Tom moved to their dream home on the lake and enjoyed watching the wildlife, as well as the company of their two cats. Those who loved her will always remember her laugh and shared fun times. Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 20, 2022 from 11am-1pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1pm with Rev. Allan Ferguson officiating. Internment will take place in the spring at Sand Hill Cemetery in Sempronius, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the American Lung Association, at https://action.lung.org, CNY SNAP, at 17 Salisbury St., Cortland, NY, or your local SPCA.
