Obituary of Delbert E. Uplinger Jr.

Delbert, “Butch,” E. Uplinger Jr., 74, of Cortland, NY passed away December 30, 2022 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born to the late Freda and Delbert Uplinger Sr. on July 8, 1948 in Cortland. Delbert was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed at the JM Murray Center and resided at the Cortland-Madison ARC. Delbert was known for his infectious smile, love of travel and scratch off lottery tickets, and his outgoing and social personality. He is survived by his sister Sharon (Alan) Congdon, his niece Kim and nephew A.J., several cousins, and his ARC family and staff. He was predeceased by his parents Delbert and Freda Uplinger Sr. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, January 4, from 1 – 2 PM with a funeral service to begin at 2 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Delbert’s name to the Cortland County SPCA.
