Obituary of David A. Marks

David "Big" A. Marks, 73, of Cortland NY passed away February 8th at Guthrie Cortland Hospital after a 22 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 2nd 1949 in Cortland to Harry Marks Jr. and Alice Peck. He was a 1969 graduate of Cortland Jr./Sr. High School and attended Morrisville College.
David worked as a truck fabricator and propane technician. In his free time, he rode motorcycles with his friends at the office where he served as president of the Office Bikers Motorcycle Club, fished Lake Ontario for salmon, served on the board of directors for the Eastern Lake Ontario Salmon & Trout Association, achieved a brown belt in Washin-Ryu karate, practiced shooting at the McGraw & Solon Sportsman club, took his family camping, helped to run a Cub pack at Smith School, held an amateur radio license (KC2CCC), helped Santa, and spent time with his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years Donna (Peak) Marks, 3 children; Sarah (Kris) Bechtel, David II (Tegan Edgington), and Joseph (Casondra) McDermott, 2 sisters; Janet Alexander and Joyce Morgan, a close niece Sandra Carmer, and 5 Grandchildren; Lucy, Jack, & Isla Bechtel, Elijah Edgington, and Heather McDermott. David was predeceased by his parents and one sister.
The family would like to extend their thanks to all of his Lake Ontario fishing buddies for the many years spent "Trolling the lake".
Calling hours will be held at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, Tuesday, February 21st from 4-5:45 PM with a service to follow at 6 PM.
