Dean L. Potter, of Houghton Hill, Homer, passed away on February 13, 2023 at the age of 82. Son of Durewood and Frances (Perry) Potter. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Kaye (Puddy); his sister and friend Gwendolyn Stiles (Gwink) and her sons; John (Kelly) and his son Ethan, and Jeff (Cindra) and their sons Michael and Daniel; a sister-in-law Mary Potter and her children John Jr. (Carlene) and their daughter Ellie Petrella (Paul) and Kimberly Ireland (Jim) and their girls Mary and Annie; a nephew Michael MacPherson; and a special cousin, Frances Shearer. Dean owned and operated a trucking company and spread lime for GLF and Agway for over 40 years. He also spent many hours volunteering at Atwater Cemetery and as a charter member of the Brockway Truck Preservation Association. Dean enjoyed traveling, gambling, hunting with his family, playing golf with his friends, restoring old vehicles, gabbing at the diner and with his neighbors and SU basketball. He truly loved watching family members and his "borrowed" kids in all their activities. He was predeceased by his parents, brother John Potter, sister Constance McPherson (John), brother-in-law and good buddy Edward Stiles, and a nephew JJ Stiles. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. is assisting the family.
