Melissa Jane Stevens Lakie, 44, of McGraw, passed away on February 13, 2023. She was born on August 7, 1978 in Ithaca, NY to her loving parents Alan J. Stevens and Sue Breeds. Melissa was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed completing puzzles and watching crime tv shows. Melissa looked forward to traveling and had enjoyed in the last year a vacation in the Outer Banks and a celebration of dear friends in New Hampshire that she deeply treasured. She will be missed by many, especially her children who fondly remember the hugs she gave. Melissa is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Ada Homer Stevens. Her maternal grandparents Jane Weddle Breeds Schuehler, Douglas Breeds, and a step-grandfather George Schuehler. Melissa is survived by her loving husband Brian Lakie; her daughters Abigail, Olivia, and Bailey Lakie; her parents Alan J Stevens and Sue Breeds Stevens; sisters Heidi (Bill) Turner and Alison Finch and her partner Lance Benjamin; and her nieces Mallory, Claire, and Ava Turner, and Lucy and Emma Finch . Melissa also considered Lance’s children to be family and loved them dearly: Chelsea, Brandon and Darren. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. from 4 to 6pm with a service to begin at 6pm. If a donation would like to be made, Melissa and Brian would ask you write a check to the McGraw Softball Club, an organization dedicated to providing equipment, training and teaching life values to McGraw’s youth girls.
