Obituary of April L. Rood

April L. Rood, 68, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2023. She was born on August 28, 1954 to the late Francis Corgel and Dawn Oliver. April was raised in Groton, NY where she attended Groton High School. In 1972 she married Steven Rood and had three children. She spent her career in elder care, working at various assisted living facilities and nursing homes. April loved being a daily prayer warrior and sharing time and her sense of humor with family and friends. She loved origami and watching hot air balloons. April is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steven Rood; step-daughter Melissa Rider; sons Reno (Wendy) and Ryan Rood; son-in-law Tom Ebert; siblings Ramona Bosse, Barney Corgel, Kevin Corgel, Roxanne Ploss, and Bridget Jackson; and grandchildren Travis Rider, and Emma and Cecily Rood. In addition to her parents, April was predeceased by her daughter, Amy Ebert, and her sister, Gail Anne Barber. A funeral service will be held Saturday 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. She will be laid to rest in the spring in Harford Mills Cemetery.
