Gordon F. Wheeler, Jr., 89 of Cortland passed away on February 28, 2023 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. He was born on January 6, 1934 a son of the late Gordon Wheeler Sr. and Dorothy Winston (Righter) Wheeler. Gordon served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He worked at New York State Electric and Gas as a meter reader for 38 years and also sold real estate in his spare time for Dexter Paddock United Farm Agency. After his retirement from NYSEG he opened his own real estate office. Gordon was a Trustee of the Memorial Baptist Church. Gordon's favorite hobby was the traveling Pitch League and all the people he got to meet. He loved to read especially National Geographic Magazine. Gordon was an avid SU Basketball Fan and avid Dodgers Fan. Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Sally Wheeler, his son Alan (Theresa) Wheeler, two sisters, Constance DeGraw and Kathryn Berry, one nephew, David DeGraw, two nieces Michele Berry and Andrea Berry. Gordon is predeceased by Nephew Daryl DeGraw, Father, Gordon Sr, Mother Dorothy, step mother, Luella Wheeler. Calling hours will be 2-3:45 Tuesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 PM. Pastor Mark Brown is officiating.
