Marilyn Ann Curtis Peterson, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on February 14, 1930 in Bradford, PA to Logan and Florence Curtis. She was married to Dr. Paul Peterson on August 29, 1953 and they had 50 years together. Marilyn graduated from Olean Highschool and earned her Associate’s degree from Lycoming College, her BA, and two Master’s degrees from Syracuse University. She taught history at the Marathon Highschool from 1952-1953. After her marriage, she helped her husband in his veterinary practice while raising four children. Marilyn then owned and operated Crown City Campers RV sales for a number of years before working at Cornell University on a dairy grant. When that grant ended she worked for OCM BOCES in the Rodex Complex until her retirement. Marilyn had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She sang with the Sweet Adalines and the Homer Avenue Methodist Church Choir. She resided at the Elizabeth Brewster House since 2022 where she received excellent care. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, parents and siblings; Tom Curtis, Frank Curtis, Barbara Kriedler, Jean Cook; and grandson Brent Mastronardi. Surviving are her children; Dana (Pam) Peterson, Karen (Benny) Mastronardi, Darryl (Robin) Peterson and Dale Peterson. Siblings; Shirley Curtis and Glenn Curtis. Grandchildren; Eric (Michelle) Peterson, Kirstyn Peterson, Ben (Sara) Mastronardi, Bethony (Mike) Germain, Marissa (Wyatt) Soeffing, Lyndsey Peterson, Kyle (Holly) Peterson; 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cortland County SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland, NY 13045, or Homer Avenue Methodist Church, 30 Homer Ave., Cortland, NY 13045. Services will be held at a later date.
