Obituary of Darren Snyder
Please share a memory of Darren to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Darren R. Snyder, 55, of Cortland, NY passed away on May 20, 2023 at home surrounded by the love of his family and close friends.
Darren was born June 28, 1967 in Cortland, NY. Darren leaves behind his wife/other half of 32 years, Staci (Call), and the girl he is most proud of, daughter McKenna (Andrew McCormick). He is also survived by his parents, Raymond and Sharyn Snyder; brother, David (Linda) Snyder; along with a circle of friends that were family and a circle of family that were best of friends. He loved his nieces and nephews like his own and his sister and brother in-laws were true siblings in his heart. Darren is predeceased by his father-in-law, Michael Call.
Darren graduated from Cortland High School in 1986. He spent most of his life working in the telecommunications business. He started his career at Matrix Communications and finished at Cornell University. Darren enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, camping, dart league, hunting, fishing, backyard barbeques, pool parties, his version of summer Olympics, weekend trips to Canada, garage sales with McKenna, listening to loud music (mostly to annoy Staci), Miller Lite and Jameson, racetrack fun (especially at Watkins Glen), keeping his lawn mowed just right, taking care of his plants, playing a game of "I got you last", and socializing with everyone and anyone.
Although Darren's life ended before any of us were ready, time spent with Darren was unforgettable. He was full of laughter, love, cheers, and good times. The loss of Darren will be forever missed by so many, and the number of friends he had cannot be counted. He was honestly everyone's favorite. Darren had the loudest voice in the room, matched by the loudest laugh. He was slightly opinionated, always cracking jokes, a tell-it-like-it-is kind of guy; just the person you wanted to be around. He was one of the funniest guys people knew and always had a quick comeback or a classic one-liner. We never let it go to his head, but he was right when he would joke, "Girls love me, guys want to be like me". Heaven is so lucky to have him.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at a later time at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland.
