Constance M. “Connie” Sorrells, 71, of Cortland, NY, passed away on July 9, 2023. She was born on June 20, 1952 to the late Robert and Lucille Sorrells. Connie was born and raised in the Cortland area. She graduated from Cortland High School and went on to college locally. She had many careers, but her most notable was working at the Cortland City Clerk’s Office for 22 years and as the co-proprietor of North End Liquor. Connie is survived by her brother, Fay A. Sorrells (Cindy Decker); nephews Joey (Barb) and Dougie (Kelly); Michael Gates, Christianna Gates-Leary, and Ethan Harris, who considered her their Aunt Connie; and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother David Sorrells. Friends can call at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, on Saturday, July 15, from 10 to 11:45 am, with a service at 12 pm. Private burial will follow. The celebration of Connie’s life will continue at Foxy’s at 4 pm Saturday. Memorial contributions in Connie’s name can be made to Connect Life, 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville, NY 14221.
