Adele L. Reed, 75, of Cortland passed away August 25, 2023 at her home at Walden Place. She was born May 8, 1948 in Toronto, Canada daughter of the late John and Rose Foreman Reed. Adele came to the United States as a child with her family and resided in the Catskills for a number of years. Adele and her family came to Cortland where she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Following graduation, she attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She then took a position at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC where she worked until about 10 years ago and came to Cortland to be closer to family. She enjoyed gardening, reading, going to the YWCA, but most of all attending numerous family gatherings. She is survived by her sister Ann (Steven) O’Donnell, her nieces Marie (“Bud”) Darling, Loni Donahue, her nephew Sam O’Donnell, along with 13 great nieces and nephews who they all referred to as “Auntie”. A calling hour will be held Thursday 10-11 with a memorial service to begin 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will follow at the Scott Union Cemetery.
