Obituary of Maureen Babel
Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mother, wife, sister, daughter, & friend. Maureen (Mo) Babel passed away after a short battle with cancer. Maureen was born in Bayshore, NY (Long Island) and spent her teenage years at McGraw, NY high school.
Affectionately known as Mo, by many friends and family members, Mo lived life with a passion. Her laugh was always the loudest in the room, or sometimes to the chagrin of her children, the loudest in the movie theater. She was completely unbothered by what others thought of her and did what she wanted with her trademark attitude.
"Not for nothin'" was one of her favorite things to say and it meant she was going to tell you how it was. If Mo liked you then you knew it and if she didn't you knew it as well. Even with her fiery attitude Mo was the kindest soul you could know. She cared deeply for people and wore her heart on her sleeve.
In 2014 Mo lost her daughter Stephanie and it hurt her immensely. She loved Stephanie more than life itself and battled with that everyday. Mo never gave up though and lived for her son Andreas and her husband Nick.
Mo planned on spending her later years traveling parts of the country & world with her husband but that was not meant to be.
Maureen is survived by her beloved son Andreas, her husband Nick Babel, her mother Teri Santos, her sisters Donna (Rick) Hansen, & Amy (Scott) Parsons, & her brothers, Glenn, Brian (Judy), Russ (Debra), Mike (Judith), & John (Amy) Santos. Along with many nieces, nephews & grandnieces & grandnephews. She was very close to her husband's family as well including her sister-in-law Kayla (Babel) Ostrander, & aunt Pearl Cozort. She was predeceased by her father Ed Santos & her daughter Stephanie.
