Obituary of Charles Peak

Charles "Charlie" Peak age 91, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland NY. Charlie was a resident of Homer NY for 30 years and was well known in the community. Charlie retired from SUNY Cortland in 1994 after 30 years of service. During the 1970's and 1980's, Charlie along with his wife Emily, owned and operated "Charlie's Shoe Store" which was located at their home in Sempronius, NY. After Charlie retired, he spent his free time finding the best bargains at local garage sales and sellings shoes and bicycles on his front yard in Homer. Charlie also frequented local diners having breakfast with friends and family. Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 34 years Emily Peak, Brothers Donald Peak and Kenneth Peak, Sisters Shirley Reddick and Gladys Porter, Step-Daughter's Sandra Russell and Geraldine Morgan and Parents Asher and Edna Peak. He is survived by Son Kenneth Peak of Cortland, Step-Son Ronald Leonard of Moravia, Son-in-Law Dave Russell of McGraw, Brother-in-Law's Earl Porter of West Palm Beach, FL and Junior Reddick of Cortland, as well as many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Per Charlie's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the Spring at McGraw Rural Cemetery for close friends and family. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
