Please share a memory of Robert "Bob" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert "Bob" Franz, 84, of Homer, N.Y., passed away surrounded by his family on Friday June 7, 2024. He was born on December 4, 1939, the son of the late Doc and Ruth Franz. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He earned his Bachelor's degree in education, becoming a math teacher at Fowler High school. Math was religion to him. Bob was intelligent, intellectual, and philosophical. He had books everywhere, and it seemed that only those with the same level of cerebral thinking would fully appreciate them. Bob absolutely loved Pi, 3.14 being his favorite number. He also teased those whose birth dates were prime numbers. He enjoyed gadgets of all kinds. Bob's greatest joy was his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved to wear hats everywhere and loved to show off the photos of his family inside the brim. Bob and his beloved wife Cyndy met when they were kids. They first married in 1967, divorced a few years later, and remarried in 1990, as soulmates they were meant to be. Bob had a huge place in his heart for animals, especially any dog or cat he ever had. He also loved ravens and owls. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his loving wife Cyndy Franz, his son Jason DeBottis and daughter-in-law Brandy Williams-DeBottis, his grandchildren Aria and Cora DeBottis, his brother-in-law Tony (Debbie) Rinaldi, his sister-in-law Dolores (Dale) Parker, his nieces and nephews Marc Parker (Sierra), and Michael (Jasmine) and Emily Rinaldi, his honorary daughter Chrissy Fertita-Miklasz, her daughter (and his beloved godchild), Caitlin (Alex) Elia, and Krissy's son Alec Williams, and several great-nieces. Finally, he leaves his dog Hayleigh Franz and his cat Dodger Franz. In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Slim and Angela Rinaldi. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 11am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, N.Y. To offer online condolences please visit www.wright-beard.com
