Obituary of Walter D. Stevens

Walter D. Stevens, 77, of Cortland, NY passed away on Tuesday July 30, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1947, the son of the late Williard and Edith Coville Stevens. Walter was a loving son, brother, and friend. He graduated from Cortland Highschool in 1965 and worked as a meat cutter. Walter went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy CB, during the Vietnam era. Upon his return, he had the experience of working many jobs, including carpentry, construction, farming, and his last place of employment with Brockway Trucks. Walter was kind with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by those close to him. Walter is survived by his children William, Timothy, and Michelle, and his sisters Susan Stevens, Sandra White, and Sharon (Kim) Krewson. In addition to his parents, Walter is predeceased by his wife Marsha Burnham, his brother William Stevens, his sister Sally McKeown, his brother in laws Clarence White and John McKeown, and many aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2024 from 1-2pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. Burial of ashes will take place at the convenience of the family.
