Ruth Stith, 72, of Cortland, passed away on August 15, 2024 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
She was born on October 23, 1951 in Liverpool, NY. Ruth made her career as a baker for the Tops Friendly Market Stores. Ruth was an avid bowler, participating in leagues at 281 Bowl as well as Hi-Lanes Bowling Alley in Homer. In her free time, she also enjoyed playing cards with friends. Ruth was certainly an artistic person, frequently working on various art projects and crafts. She even did numerous puppet shows with her grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed traveling, but above all else, loved her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her son Paul (Felicia) Downing; grandchildren Nicholas Downing, Ciaran McCall, Caleb Downing, and Chantalise Downing, as well as several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Valerie Nitti, Paula Harington, and Patricia Farman.
Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Ann Downing and husband James Stith.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 6pm, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc.
