Obituary of Dale Anthonson

Dale "Blueberry" Anthonson, 82, of Truxton NY, passed away August 16, 2024 at the Hospicare Care Services Facility in Ithaca NY with his close friend Doug by his side. Dale was born in Auburn, NY March 27, 1942, growing up on his family farm in Jordan and attending local schools . He enlisted with the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964. Dale was a skilled pilot and spent many years working as an aviation mechanic at various locations throughout his career. Including spending some time out west in Colorado, a place that was dear to his heart, and in Nevada. Dale loved to be outside in the hot summer sun, picking berries, gardening, riding his Spyder, fishing, or hanging out at Poole's Drive in, and taking road trips with Doug. He also enjoyed playing his guitar, making strawberry jam, and making people laugh. He is survived by his brothers Douglas Anthonson of Cortland, and Theodore Anthonson (Elizabeth) of Clarence, NY, numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and his beloved cat, Malley. Dale was predeceased by his parents Martin "Buddy" Anthonson in 2004, and Ethel Ruth (Scranton) Anthonson in 1977. As well as his sister-in-law Doris (Brown) Anthonson in 2023 and dear friend Carlton Young in 2023. A calling hour will be held Saturday 10-11 am with a funeral service to begin 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. The date and time for his burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY, will be announced after the service.
