Emma Splane (Mrs. George) of Moravia passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on Sunday, October 16 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. The daughter of Charles Henry Badman, Jr. and Hattie May Avery Badman, Emma was born April 19, 1909 in Niles township. She lived all her life in Cayuga and Onondaga counties; locations included Auburn, Mandana, Montville, and Moravia. Emma was predeceased in 1993 by her husband of 64 years, George D. Splane. She is survived by two daughters, Lora Lee (Timothy) Rudolph of Freeport, Maine and Lois S. Shaw of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Janet E. Shaw, Judith E. Scott, Gary D. Rudolph, and Tami Rudolph (Amos) Pike; eleven great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, at 3:00 p.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland, Reverend David Hays officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 36 Church Street, Moravia, NY 11318.
