Obituary of Lois Martha Stevens

Lois Martha (Kniffen) Stevens, aged 92, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, In Aurora, IL. Born March 4, 1932, Lois was a long-time resident of Cortland, NY and most recently Yorkville, IL. Lois was a full-time mother to five children and later in life worked at the Kleen Korner (Cortland, NY) and Bob’s Market (McGraw, NY). Lois was also a master seamstress and spent many hours working from home making clothing for people. She was also known to be a great cook and baker who loved to prepare food. Lois was known by many as “mom” and could often be seen sitting on her front porch at 12 Brown Ave reading a book. She was an avid reader, who devoured books by the hundreds over the years. Lois was a hard-working woman who often worked side by side with her husband Robert on home improvement projects. She and her family found much happiness on many family vacations enjoying the “lake life” at one of the local lakes for the summer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stafford Stevens; parents, Donnell Kniffen and Luella Houseman Marks; brother, Charles Kniffen. Lois is survived by her children David (Angela) Stevens, Dianne (Mary) Bays-Guido, Douglas Stevens, Daphne Stevens Guy, and Dodie (Thomas) Hartmann, half-sister Donna Sargent, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
