Garry Aldrich, 84, of McGraw, NY passed away on Sunday August 25, 2024 at home surrounded bÿ family. after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on April 12, 1940, the son of the late Oscar and Myrtle Goddard Aldrich. Above all, Garry loved his family and made them his priority always. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, which gained him his favorite title, "Papa." Garry was reliable and always there for his family. He could fix anything and made sure everyone had what they needed. If something was wrong, Garry would take care of it, he was his family's rock. Garry graduated from Homer High School in 1958 and remained active in class reunions and activities. In his younger years he worked as a talented mechanic. He retired from Brewer Titchener working as a valued metal worker. Garry was a dedicated member of the Christ Community Church, and the Cortland Senior's Club. He loved watching NASCAR, collecting Hess trucks, and movie watching, with a special love for the Hallmark Channel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Garry is survived by his wife Carolyn Aldrich, his children Deborah (Russell) Brown, Sherry (David) Smith, Stephanie St. Pierre, and Stacy (Robert) Marko, his sister Sharon (Robert) Haley, his grandchildren Christopher (Anna) Smith, Matthew Smith, Shantelle (Dustin) Danos, Scottilynn (Terrance) Arceneaux, Lindsey St. Pierre, Destin St. Pierre, Nathan Marko, and Olivia Marko, and his 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his granddaughter Alyssa Marko, his brother Douglas (Tiny) Aldrich, and nephew Shane Haley. The family welcomes everyone to join them for a celebration of Garry's life on Thursday August 29, 2024 from 1-5pm at the Dwyer Memorial Park, Little York. A brief ceremony will be held at 1pm. Join us for food, drinks, and sharing of good memories. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alyssa's Toy Box Fund, 02550 CO Upstate Foundation 750 E.
