Obituary of David N. Greenfield

David N. Greenfield, 74, formerly of Cortland, passed away September 10, 2024, in Kernersville, NC, with family by his side. David was raised in Scott and graduated from Homer High School. He served as a first responder firefighter for the City of Cortland Fire Department. After retiring from the fire department, he started his own business. He later moved to Florida, where he worked as a general maintenance manager for different apartment complexes. After he retired from maintenance, he moved to Mississippi and North Carolina. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, boating, playing baseball, and enjoying his BV and Coke. He also enjoyed skeet shooting, shooting darts, and in his downtime watching westerns. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Melanie (Scholven), his daughters, Carla Greenfield and Alicia (James) Beattie; his brother Steve (Maria) Greenfield, his grandchildren, Jessica Holden, Graydon Hickey, Jayden Lang, and Elizabeth Beattie, his nephews Tyler, Timothy, and Zachary Greenfield, his niece Lisa (Brewster), and his great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Alice (Neal) Greenfield, and his sister, Paula Brewster. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 18th from 11am-1pm at Wright Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY, with the City of Cortland Fire Dept. honor guard present. Procession to the Scott Union Cemetery will follow, with the City of Cortland Fire Dept. bearing the casket.
