Wallace W. Brown, 83, of Cortland NY, passed away October 16, 2011 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1928 in Cortland, son of the late Jay and Flossie Williams Brown. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Cortland. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. After returning from serving his country, he was employed with Wickwire Bros., Smith Corona Corp., Agway of Cortland, then with SUNY Cortland retiring in 1990. He was a longtime member of the Cortland Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed taking long drives sightseeing and interacting with people. He is survived by his wife of 58 yrs. Mary Casterline Brown of Cortland, sons William W. (Pamela) Brown of McGraw NY, Thomas P. (Chris) of Groton NY, Martin A. Brown of Cortland NY, daughter Karen (Terry) Heikkila of Seguin TX, sisters Rosa Young of Cortland, Doris Brown of Homer NY, 4 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held Thursday 1:30 pm €“ 2:30 pm with a funeral to begin 2:30 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc. Burial will follow at the West Hill Homer Cemetery.
