Obituary of Ralph J. Bell Sr.

Ralph J. Bell, Sr., 86, passed away on November 3, 2024 and went home to be with our Lord after a short illness.
Ralph was born in Homer on April 9, 1938 to Robert and Marian Pierce Bell.
He married, Dawn S. Merihew on October 28, 1961 in Homer and had 63 wonderful years together.
Ralph was a meat cutter for Rowe's Red and White, Victory Markets [Great American], and Maines Cash & Carry from the age of 16 until his retirement in November 2004. Upon his retirement Dawn & Ralph immersed themselves in their favorite pastimes-- flower gardens, watching the birds feed at the many feeders at "Bell's Animal Cafe" The light show at "The Bell's Festival of Lights were enjoyed by all of the neighborhood and those who passed by.
Ralph was an active member of Bible Baptist Church of Cortland since 1965. He enjoyed, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School ushering plus plenty of "mixed" small, jobs. •
He is survived by his "wife" of 63 years of love) 'Dawn Bell.
Ralph is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Ronald and Richard, a sister, Roberta. He also is predeceased by Dawn's Aunt & Uncle [Ron & Oma] with whom they spent many special times together.
He is survived by, a son, R. "Josh" Jr. [Charlotte] of Windsor, two daughters, Theresa Darling and Patricia [Ray] Congdon all of Cortland; Several grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also by, sisters-in laws, Kay Waddy, Jean Kalilec, Joan [Paul] Philips and Sharon Monroe all of Cortland. Sister in law Virginia of Horseheads.
Internment will be in the future at the convenience of the family at the Elmwood Cemetery, Preble NY.
