Obituary of Linda R. Stearns

Linda Stearns, 81, of Cortland, NY passed away on Sunday November 17, 2024. She was born on January 30, 1943 the daughter of the late Raymond and Ethel Lyon. Linda was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She graduated from Moravia High School and went on to work for Smith Corona. Linda took pride in her work in the Bursar office at SUNY Cortland and was a dedicated member of the Bible Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed sewing and was a great seamstress. She also enjoyed doing hair, listening to Elvis, and traveling. In her free time, Linda served as a caretaker for the elderly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Linda is survived by her son Steven Stearns, her siblings Gary Lyon, Ronnie (Kathie) Lyon, Perry (Michelle) Lyon, Ray(Nancy) Lyon, Sue (Bob) Burhans, and Denise (R.J.) Powers, her grand dog Onyx, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister in law Katherine Chayka Lyon. Calling hours will be held on Monday November 25, 2024 from 1-3pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A memorial service will follow at 3pm.
