Obituary of Gary Lee Dawson

The family of Gary Lee Dawson of Cortland, NY is saddened to announce his passing on December 10, 2024 at the age of 74 years. Gary was born in Cortland, NY to Lillian (West) & Leon Dawson on October 29, 1950. He grew up on his family farm on Dawson Road. Gary was part of the last graduating class of Truxton Central School in 1968. He helped on the farm and worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years retiring in 2004. Gary loved being outdoors and was especially passionate about hunting and fishing. His quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rita, and his children, Danielle (Sean) Campbell of Mission Viejo, CA and Terry (Patty) Dawson of Cortland, NY; three granddaughters, Raina and Bailey Campbell & Livia Dawson; brother in law James Heath, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dawn Heath. In accordance with Gary’s wishes there will be no services. Those wishing to make a Memorial contribution may do so to The Michael J.
