Obituary of Florence C. Kingsbury

Florence C. Kingsbury, 97, of Cortland, NY, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2011 at Cortland Care Center.
Florence was born on March 31, 1914 in Abbottstown, PA. She moved to Tully, NY, with her parents, Basil and Elsie Chronister, and graduated from Tully High School. She then moved to Homer, NY, with her husband, Ray, and resided there until his passing June 26, 1976. She then moved to Cortland.
She retired fro Homer Central Schools in 1979 and performed various housekeeping and ironing jobs for many people over the years. Florence enjoyed raising Siamese cats with her husband for many years in Homer. She also enjoyed reading, making scrapbooks, playing her organ, watching SU basketball games and going for rides in the car.
She is survived by her four grandchildren, Yolanda Bishop, of LaFayette NY; Christal Martin of Camp Hill, PA; Gerald Fidler of Alexandria, VA; and joseph Fidler of Mansfield, OH; seven great grandchildren, a niece, nephew, and several great nieces and nephews in Chandler, AZ.
She was also predeceased by her daughter, Polly A. Fidler, sister, Mary Barrett, and her parents.
A graveside service will be 11 am Saturday October 1, 2011 at the Truxton Cemetery.
