Jean R.ForemanSovocool, 76, of Cortlandville, passed away Saturday September 3, 2011 at home surrounded by family. She was born January 9, 1935 in Cortland, daughter of the late Richard and josephine Applegate Foreman, Sr.
Jean was an area resident all her life graduating from Cortland High School in 1953.
In their early married life, Jean and her husband, Ralph ran the roller skating rinks in Ithaca and Cortland. Later,
she was a home maker and mother of 5 children.While raising her family she also worked for her husband's business, Sovocool's Body Shop. She was active in many volunteer activitiesat McGraw Central School and was a life long member of theFree Methodist Church in Cortland.
After raising her children, she was employed by
Tallmadge Tire andthe KleanKorner in Cortland.
She is survived by her daughters Valerie (Kim Woodcock) Reine of Ithaca, NY; Desiree (Gregory) Wakehman of Amherst, NH; Stephanie Bruce of Holden, NC; Stephen (Kelly Simon) Sovocool
of Homer, NY; Deidra (Christopher) Curtis of Valatie, NY; __
23__grandchildren, _
11___great grandchildren,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Ralph J. Sovocool and her brother Richard
A.Foreman, Jr.
Calling hours will be Friday September 9, 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY.
A funeral service will be held Saturday2PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home.
