Richard E. Russell 83, of Cortland passed away at home surrounded by his family.
Dick was born October 1, 1927 in Perry, NY the son of the late Earol and Margaret Tice Russell.
Dick served his country with the US Army during the Korean War; he graduated from SUNY Geneseo and Syracuse University. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He taught math at Cortland High School for over 26 years. He previously owned the Kwik Shake Drive Inn in Homer,
Dick is survived by his children Kathryn Kit (Jeffrey) Michel of Rochester, and Amy (Sean) Clark of Cortland, his grandchildren Tommy Clark, Sean and Steven Michel.
In addition to his parents Dick was predeceased by his wife Mary and son Steven.
At Dicks request there are no calling hours, a celebration of Dicks life will be held
Sunday from 3:00 €“ 6:00 pm at the St. Charles Hotel 83 Central Ave.

We are so sorry to hear of your father's death.. He was a good friend and teacher. I will always remember his kindness to Fred when he drove him up and back for medical treatments especially.(Gloria) I cannot take away your sorrow, but I can listen if you want to talk. Mr. Russell was one of my favorlte teachers. He believed in me and because of him I got 100% on my regents. I remember him saying close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. I am now a teacher and hope to be as good as he was. Laurie Snyder
