Coach tyron was a very good coach and a better person. He not only taught us that individual skills were important but how you used them as a team were as important. He taught us that good sportsmanship was as important as winning. His teachings instilled confidence in me that have lasted a life time. I had the great and unexpedted privilege of being named by him the team captain of the 1963 basketball team. I only regret I never properly thanked him for that honor. Again, I want to pass along my heart felt condolences to all the family on your loss. Tom Richards Dear Tryon Family, Just wanted to say you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Mr. Tryon was one of the finest teachers I had the pleasure of knowing at Oxford Academy. He made an immediate impression on me when I arrived in 1985. He taught me to treat others with respect. He also took us on on a safety patrol trip to Washington, DC and Gettysburg, PA in 1986 that made a huge impression on me. Not only did he help teach us about our country's history, but he made it real by taking us to places like the Washington Monument, Vietnam Memorial, and Little Round Top. These experiences have remained with me for the last 25 years and influenced my decision to be a history major in college. I still enjoy visiting these locations as a result of our trip. What a great man. I will miss him greatly and I am better person for having known him.
