John H. Livingston Jr., 89, of Cortland, passed away May 6, 2011 at University Hospital in Syracuse the result of an accident at his home. He was born March 10, 1922 in Syracuse, the son of the late John and Gertrude Smaltz Livingston.
John was an Army veteran of WWII serving as 1st. Lt. in North Africa and Italy before being honorably discharged and receiving the Purple Heart. He was employed as a salesman for Lang Roofing until his retirement. John was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church, 65 yr member of the Cortlandville F & AM #470 serving as 32nd degree Mason, 64 yr. member of the Scottish Rite Lodge in Syracuse, and the Republican National Committee. He also enjoyed flying serving as a licensed pilot. John is survived by his sons John of Tacoma Washington, Thomas J. (Karen) Livingston of Homer NY, his daughter Karen Hall of Cortland NY, his grandchildren Shawn (Doug) Smith, Robin Livingston, Shari Natale, Joe (Karen Livingston, one great grand daughter Angelica Rose Natale, nieces and nephews.John was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Betty Livingston in 2001 and his son n law James Hall.A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. john will be sadly missed.it was such a joy to visit and talk to john.when he walked pierre or later, when he walked alone and would stop to rest on my lawn and tell me about his journey through life.
