Bonita R. (ODonnell) Barden, 77, of Cortland NY, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer April 11, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1933 in Cortland NY, the daughter of the late Alfred and Eva Wimer ODonnell. Her family will cherish her memory as being dedicated to her church and family. She was a longtime member of the Homer Ave. United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at DeRuyter Lake. She is survived by her husband of sixty two years James E. Barden of Cortland, her sons John (Noreen) Barden of Cortland, Eric (Lisa) Barden of Cortland, daughter in law Marcia Barden of Cortland, grandchildren Jennifer (Courtney) Gayle, Stacie (Tim) Camp, John Barden, Allison Barden, Matthew Barden, Justine Hughes, Zachary (Mandy) Nash, Cole Barden, eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews including caregiver and niece Linda Williams. Bonnie was predeceased by her son Chris Barden, siblings Audrey McCall, Clifford ODonnell, Lorene Ellsworth, Garnet Kleine, and her parents. Calling hours are Wednesday 5-7 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY 13045. A funeral service will be Thursday 12 noon at Wright-Beard Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Scott Union Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association, Processing Center, PO Box 7, East Syracuse NY, 13057 or the Homer Ave. united Methodist Church.
