Edward Axel VanSlyke, 76, of Cortland went on to a better place March 22, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Edward worked at Montgomery Wards for 25 years until he retired in 1990. He then worked at Cortland Standard as a carrier and an inserter until 2008. Edward loved to be with his grandchildren, was an avid bowler and loved playing the lotto. Edward is survived by his children Edward Jr. (Dutch) and Clayton of Cortland, Albert of Binghamton, daughters Jessica(Shane) joseph of Homer, Amanda (Mike) Predmore of Cortland, Grandchildren; Wrangler, Konnor, Jacob, David, Diamond, Michael Jr., Hannah, Danielle, Jakob of Cortland, Tailer, Stephen, Jasmine, Jerze, and Hunter of Homer. Clay, David of Johnstown, a brother George (Roberta) VanSlyke of Myrtle Beach and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre deceased by his parents Ruth (Raymond) Bowers and George VanSlyke. Calling hours will be held from 2:00-3:00PM on Friday at Wright-Beard Funeral home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY with a funeral service to follow at 3:00PM.
