Jane Phillips, 82, of Homer NY, passed away Friday March 4, 2011 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. She was born May 17, 1928 in Freetown, NY, daughter of the late Henry and Lena Stone Christopher.
Jane lived in Freetown and Cortland, but for a majority of her life resided in Homer. She worked at Cortland Corset, drove school bus for the Homer School District, and most recently operated her own tax preparation service. Jane was a member of the Homer Methodist Church, a member of 4H for over 20 yrs, and a member of the McGraw Grange for over 65 yrs. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of 41 yrs Robert H. Phillips of Homer, her son William (Pamela) Prindle of North Carolina, her daughters Rita (Terry) Goddard of Homer, Marion Wood of Cortland, Lori Space of Cortland, Rosemary Phillips of Homer, her brothers Robert (Wanda) Christopher of Arizona, Herbert (June) Christopher of Cortland, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her siblings Alan, Shirley, Dora, and Rose.
Calling hours will be held Monday 5-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY. A funeral service will be held Tuesday 10 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home with Rev. Suzanne Block officiating. Spring burial will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer NY.
