Dawn M.Grandma Slater 78, of Cortland passed away February 25, in Homer surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dawn was born October 6, 1932 in Endicott the daughter of the late Miles and Bessie Lanning. She enjoyed crafting, and spending time with her family. Dawn was a member of the Rebekka Lodge and was a volunteer with the Cortland County Welcome Center. She is survived by her children Diana (Mike) Woodward of Homer, Deborah Slater of Cortland, Danene (Brian) Poole of Homer, David (Cindy) Slater of Washington, and Devin Slater of Cortland 10 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren In addition to her parents Dawn was predeceased by her husband Charles Slater in 2002 A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. spring interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery Preble. At Dawns request there are no calling hours.
