Clara Waneta Getz, 86, of Cortland, NY, passed away Saturday October 16, 2010, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 30, 1923 the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Maude D. Proudfoot Felton of Philippi, West Virginia.
Waneta moved to Cortland in 1961. She was employed by Smith Corona Marchant from 1962 until retirement in 1989. Waneta will be remembered by those who knew her as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and tending to her lawn.
Surviving are sons Ryan (Krystyna) Getz of N. Pitcher, Kevin Getz of Syracuse, daughter Judy (Bruce) Davison of Cortland, grandchildren Kelly Michales, Jeffrey Davison, Synthya, Symantha, Leigh and Cody Getz, great grandchildren Zachary and Owen Michales, and one niece and one nephew.
Waneta was predeceased by her three sisters Beulah Phillips, Virginia Felton, and Deveda Griffith.
At the request of the deceased there will be no calling hours or funeral. Final arrangements will be through Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. of Cortland.
