Delbert "Ed" Uplinger Sr. 83 formerly of Groton, NY passed away September 1,2010 at The New York State Vererans' Home in Oxford, NY. He was born December 15th, 1926 the son of John Wesley and Beatrice Deemer Uplinger in Panic, Pa. He served in the Marines during WWII. He retired from Smith Corona after 38 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed baseball and football on television. He is survived by his son Delbert Uplinger Jr. of Cortland, NY a daughter Sharon (Alan) Congdon of Homer, NY ,his grandson A.J. Congdon of Homer, NY and his granddaughter Kimberly Congdon also of Homer,NY. He is also survived by his brother John (Kay) Uplinger of Seattle, WA, brother Guy (Virginia) Hallgren of Painted Post, NY, and sister Winifred (Lester) Witherite of Grampion, PA .,several nephews and cousins. other survivors include his estranged wife Lorna Thomas Uplinger, her children and their familes. He was predeceased by his first wife of 47 years Freda "Dolly" Uplinger , brothers George , Everett ,Barton , Wesley and sisters Bessie and Millie. Calling hours will be held 1:00-2:00 pm Friday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland with the funeral service to be held at 2:00 pm. interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery Homer, NY ot offer on line condolences visit www.wright-beard.com
