Barbara I.Adams, 85, of Cortland passed away August 12, 2010 at home. Barbara was born October 13, 1924 in Dexter , NY the daughter of the late Niles and Florence Good Adams. Barbara had been employed at Rubbermaid for several years,worked in the Cortland County Tourist Booth and volunteered at the Country Music Park. Her memberships included The American Legion,DAVA (life member), Eagles, VFW, RSVP,CRT usher, Thursday Morning Coffee Club and the Moose Club WOTM, where she had held several positions. Barbara is survived by her sons Gary (Lisa)Busby of Cortland , James (Marie) Busby of Groton, daughters Bonnie Cratsenberg of Florida,Mary (Ron) Dexter of Homer, Norma(Fred)Vleer of Oriskany Falls, Doreen Busby of Cayuga, her son-in-law David Riehlman of Homer,her sister-in-law Patricia Adams of Dexter, NY ,Mary Cogswell (the sister shenever had) of Cortland,and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her daughter Loretta Riehlman,brothers Raymond (Ruth) and Richard Adamspredeceased her. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 21, at 2:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. with the Reverend Peter Williams officiating. Friends are invited to call from 12:00-1:45 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Barbaras name may be directed to the American Cancer Society 13 Beech St, Johnson City, NY 13790 or the American Heart Association 17 Technology Place East Syracuse , NY 13057. Art & Cindy Arthur Ray & Trevor Dear Gary, Jimmy, Norma, Mary, Bonnie, Doreen, I want you to know how very sorry I am Barb passing. I know the hurt as it was just 3 years agao for my Mom. Our Moms were such good friends. Just remember she is in a better place now. I can tell you but I'm sure already now that you kids and her grandkids were her life! She always had updated pictures to show me when I saw her. Her face would light up so bright and she would say, "Oh look I have something to show you!" I always enjoyed to see them as you were all like big brothers and sisters to me growing up and Barb was like a second Mom. Take care and am sorry I can't be there as I have moved to Florida.
