Hazel I. Williamson, 94, formerly of Alvena Ave, Cortland, passed away July 2, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Williamson was born December 19, 1915 in Groton the daughter of the late Clarence and Alice Mosher Wilcox.
Mrs. Williamson had been a lifelong resident of the area. She had been employed at Smith Corona for more than twenty five years. Hazel was a member of the Living Word Free Methodist Church and the Cortland Senior citizens. Hazel enjoyed boating, sewing and crocheting blankets. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a fantastic cook and baker and will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Williamson is survived by her daughters Shirley (Harold) Foster of Cortland and Deborah (Richard) Contento of Cortland.Nine grandchildren; Sharon (William) Strom, Susan (Chris) Fox, Lorrie (Tom) McDonald, Ron Foster, Don (Lisa) Foster, Patty (Nick) Gutchess, Gary (Darlene) Foster, Kristie Contento and Kimberly Contento. Fourteen grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Williamson was predeceased by her husband L.R. Edwin Williamson in 1993 and family members Leonard Wilcox, Virginia Kelley, Rodney Wilcox , Charlotte Wilcox and niece Patricia Collins.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with the Rev. James Kane officiating. Interment will follow in the Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.
