Virginia Owens, 91, formerly of Blodgett Mills, passed away July 11, 2013, at the Cortland Park and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 11, 1922, in McGraw, NY, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Marguerite Short Wildman. Virginia was a lifelong resident of McGraw/Blodgett Mills. Her joy was her family, and she enjoyed spending time making memories with them. This included family camping, picnics, holidays, and large family dinners around her dining table. Her baking and cooking was well-known throughout the area. Her large garden provided enough produce for her to fill the pantry and freezer every year. In May of 1997 she received honors for 40 plus years of dedicated service in the Beginner Department of Memorial Baptist Church. She was also responsible for starting the Pioneer Girl program which flourished there for many years. She was predeceased by her husband Merlin, a daughter Marcia, and sons Douglas and David. She is survived by her children Janie (Donald) Perry of Gordonville, PA, Alison (David) Owens of Smithville Flats, NY, Brian Owens, and Brenda (Robert) OGorman of Cortland, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
