Mary E. Brooks 74 of Cortland passed away May 4, 2010 in Upstate Medicinal University Hospital Syracuse, NY
Mary was born August 3, 1935 in Lewiston, PA., the daughter of the late Albert and Florence Heller Orme.
Mary was an avid card player , and loved to work with flowers, she had been employed by Craigs Hometown Florists for many years, and most recently had been employed by the Cortland City School District as a school bus driver., and attended the Homer Ave. United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years Ransom Randy Brooks of Cortland,
Daughters Lynne (Rick Gentile) Thomas, and Teresa (Lennie Conger) Gillespie of Cortland, Tammy (Jeff Foster) Brooks of Marathon , Raye Lynn (Bob) Kurtz of Cincinnatus , sons, Rick Thomas, Frank Craig and Scott Craig all of Cortland, her brother James (Valerie) Orme of Florida, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews and three special nieces Betty J. Shutt of Cortland, Bonnie (Rex) Helwig of Cortland and Kathy (Gary) Patterson of Denton Texas.
In addition to her parents Mary was predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Carl Shutt, Albert Orme Jr, and sister Hazel McHale.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm Friday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery Homer, NY

I'm SO sorry about your loss to Mary. I thought about mary and you for past few months for some reason. I should have contact you guys to see how you guys are doing. I regret for not doing that. I miss you guys so much. I wish I can fly there or anyhow to get there to be there for the funeral. this really upset me because cant make it to the funeral. Mary will ALWAYS be in my heart. And I will never forget these moments when mary and you babysat me when i was little, and drive bus from cortland to ithaca. SO many memories. Email me or call me and i would love to share memories with you and talk to you too. We will be in NY in Sept. so i would still love to see you anyways. I have a son, he just turned one. I was planning to stop by see you guys in sept. but we missed mary. I know she is looking from the heaven and look over us. and i know she is in a better place. I love you and Mary. Randy, I am very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. Just want you to know how much Mary has meant to us all these years. Will never forget all the good times we have had with you all...all the coffee and talks. Mary meant a lot to Brianna, Blake and Brooke. Will cherish all the pictures that Mary took of Brooke when she was little. Mary will always have a special place in our hearts....Mary we love you and will miss you very much. Donna Phoenix
