Charlotte Angell, 97, of Cortland NY, passed away April 25, 2010. Charlotte was born in Groton on November 22, 1912, daughter of the late Howard and Gladys Hall. She was employed by New York Telephone from 1930 until her retirement in 1969. Charlottes interests included many civic and community projects including the League of Women Voters and her affiliation with, and support of the Democratic Party. In her later years she enjoyed volunteering, reading, walking, and many outdoor activities. But mostly she enjoyed the friends she made throughout the years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl (Ben) Angell, her brothers, Newton B. Hall, and Carlton Hall. She is survived by three nieces, Geraldine Yoneoka, Constance Shaw, and Patricia Hall all of Rochester, NY. Charlotte is survived by many, many long time friends, neighbors, and co-workers, and by her ever faithful dog Nikki. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 4th, from 1:00 €“ 3:00 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland NY. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home immediately following the calling hours. Memorial Donations may be made to Caring Community Hospice of Cortland, The YWCA, Cortland County SPCA, or any other charity of your choice. For many years we worked together as volunteers at the hospital, but kept up our friendship until the end. I will miss her so much. My deepest sympathy to her family and to all her many wonderful friends who meant so much to her. I feel so sad for her faithful companion, Nikki. They were so lucky to have each other. Eva Bregman Charlotte was a very special lady. I met her through my husband who is the son of one of her nieces. I will always treasure the special moment when she was holding our daughter for the first time. 95 years between them bridged by an incredible love she always showed for everyone that was close to her. Charlotte, we will miss you. May you rest in peace! Kathrin, Rick, and Lillian Yoneoka I cannot seem to find the right words to express what a wonderful Aunt she was. From letting us wash dishes when we could barely see over the counter; to giving us glass goblets to drink our milk from; to listening with interest and an open heart to everything we had to say; to giving me guidance and sharing her wisdom, even when I was sure I didn't need it, but did; for the cards and letters that came throughout the years, continuing even when I was "too busy" to write back. Charlotte you were a treasured friend, neighbor, and Aunt. You will be deeply missed. Patty Hall Charlotte was my Aunt - I believe she would think this quote was great - if I listen, I can hear her laughing. We will miss that laughter! - Connie Shaw Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming €ËÅ“WOO HOO what a ride!" ~ author unknown Connie Shaw Charlotte was my late husbands' aunt. I met her many years ago after we were married. Even though through the years I only had a chance to visit with her a couple of times, I really enjoyed them. My sister in law Marilyn is still living in Dryden and sends her best wishes also to her nieces. I am sorry to say that we didn't hear of her passing until after the service was over. Marilyn is the only living relative that she knows of, and would like to hear from anyone that would like to contact her. Thinking of you all fondly Mrs. (James) Virginia Baker My condolences to her next of kin. The Robert and Christinte Ghent family held Charlotte (and Carl)in a very special place. I am their oldest daughter and visited Charlotte in Cortland last summer with my mother on a trip upstate from Long Island. I have memories of Charlotte that span my entire life, since I was a little girl and picked all the blossoms off her tulips one spring. We had a nice chat last summer and she was as sharp and up to date as always. I am saddened at her passing. Virginia Ghent Charlotte was a good friend for more than 60 years. In may ways, she was a mentor. I always admired her clear understanding of the world and her compassion for those in it. I feel bereft and know that my world is a smaller place without Charlotte's wise opinions and incisive views. My whole family will miss her. She was a wonderful woman. Christine Ghent
