Obituary of Howard L. Gutchess

Howard L. Gutchess 83, of Truxton passed away March 11, 2010 in Cortland Regional Medical Center after an extended illness with his family at his side. Howard was born February 2, 1927 in Cortland the son of the late Leslie and Bessie Underwood Gutchess. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and taking drives in the country. He served his Country as a combat engineer with the US Army in Korea, and had served as a military Policeman in Washington, D.C. He was a lifetime employee of Gutchess Lumber Company. Howard is survived by his wife Cheryl Barnes Gutchess of Truxton, his children joseph Gutchess of Cortland, Nicholas Gutchess of East Freetown, Alan Gutchess of Cortland,, Amy Gutchess of McLean and step son 1st Sgt Lee Parker with the US Army stationed in Louisiana, brothers George and Everett Gutchess of Lapeer, sisters Dorothea Honour of Cortland, Marlea Gutchess of York, PA, 6 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Howard was predeceased by a brother Raymond Gutchess. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A M Monday at the Lapeer Christian Church with the Reverend Archie Smith officiating. Spring interment will held at the convenience of the family.
