Marjorie H. Jacques, 92, of 13 Leon Ave. , Cortland passed away Monday Jan. 4 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1917 in Cortland, the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Breeds Hopkins.
Marjorie married Leo Jacques on July 30, 1938, and they were married nearly 42 years. Marjorie and Leo had a daughter, Eleanor (Leonard) Hammond of Dryden and a son David (Carole) Jacques of Cortland. She worked at grants bakery for 17 years, at the 1st National Bank of Dryden for five years and ASC at SUNY Cortland for 17 years until her retirement. She has been a volunteer in the RSVP Program and is an active member of the New York State Grange in Cortland .
Her grandchildren are Lisa Jacques (Linda Parsons), Los Angeles, CA, Susan (Nicholas) Pizzola of Cortland, Merilynn (Tony) Avallone, Rochester, Steven (Shannan) Hammond, Cortland, Roger Hammond, Dunedin, Fla., Daniel Hammond, Dryden, and Rebecca (David) Tiikkala, Dunedin, Fla. Great grandchildren Alexandria and Lukas Pizzola of Cortland, Emily Avallone of Rochester, Addison, Kaylie and Marli Hammond of Cortland, Jacob and Nathan Tiikkala, Dunedin, Fla.
She was predeceased by her husband Leo Jacques, sister Flora Gibson, and brother Paul Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 am at Wright-Beard Funeral Home,9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. A calling hour will be 10:30-11:30 prior. Burial will take place in the spring at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Grace Episcopal Church, E. Court St., Cortland.
